The Trustees are pleased to welcome Dr Hugh Logan as a Trustee on the Mackenzie Country Trust. Hugh has a close association with the Mackenzie Basin for nearly 50 years – especially in his late teens and early 20s working in the Basin. More recently Hugh produced the Mackenzie Basin - Opportunities for Agency Alignment along with John Hutchings.
Hugh has a PhD in environmental public policy and 40 years’ experience in natural resource management. He was previously a public service Chief Executive for eleven years heading the Ministry for the Environment and the Department of Conservation. Prior to that he headed what is now Antarctica New Zealand. More recently Hugh has been involved with collaborative processes focused on natural resources. He chaired the Land and Water Forum and the Biodiversity Collaborative Group, both of which have produced agreement amongst all interest groups on government action that will chart the future for freshwater and indigenous biodiversity management. He also chairs ECAN’s regional water committee.
Hugh has been appointed for a three-year term.
